BT Terminology
1. The dogs we all know and love: Bull Terriers; A.K.A.:
BTs, Bullies, Bull Terrors, Bull Terrorists, Pig Dogs, HogDogs, Devil Dogs,
Hell Hounds, or a three year old in a dog suit. People tend to confuse them
for all sorts of barnyard and wild animals: sheep, goats, pigs, seals or
sea lions (colored variety with their ears laid back), or polar bears (white
variety with their ears laid back).
2. Trancing, Jungle Dog, or Primordial Pooch:
Act in which a Bull Terrier gets in or under any low hanging structure: bushes,
low hanging trees, table cloths, etc. They let it brush against their backs,
causing a tremorlike effect which may involve shivering and drooling and
is usually ended by a full body shiver. The first time I saw my BT do this
under our orange tree, I'd thought he'd been poisoned!
3. Bull Run, Bully Run, Bully Fun Dance, Bully Scoot, Go Fasties, Huckle
Buck, or Butt:
This is one of the most endearing and bizarre behaviors in a BT. It's when
they propel themselves through your house at subsonic speeds, barely avoiding
(sometimes NOT!) tables, lamps, chairs, and people in their way. Ours uses
our $1200.00 corner group like the top lane at the Daytona500, flying around
it and then crashing full speed into his open crate. Don't try to move out
of their way on this one or you'll get creamed! Just envision the proverbial
Bat Out of Hell (with radar)!
4. Feetsies:
Bull Terriers have four of them, and they usually smell like corn chips!
5. Frog Legs:
What a Bully has when lying on the floor with his legs behind him.
6. Snarfling, Snorfeling, Snorfel, Pig Noise, maybe Boodling?:
Kind ofgrunting sighing sound a Bully make when he really wants something,
like attention or a cookie...
7. Creeping, Creepy Crawls, Commando Crawl, G.I. Joe, Sneaky Snake:
Act of dragging oneself around the house using only the forepaws. Sometimes
back and forth in one place (must be something stimulating for the males
:-o).
8. Bully Wag or Full Body Shiver. Could be the Butt Dance:
This is where the whole dog shakes and the tail remains stationary.
9. Poop or Poopies:
A.K.A. Dog Bombs, land mines. Feline variety known as Kitty Krunchies or Kitty
Rocca. Disgusting isn't it?
10. Whirly Coopter, Whirling Dervish:
Variation of the Bull Run. It involves lots of full body spins either in one
place or while flying around the house.
11. Butt Swirls, Sniff Me's, Turbo Props:
The unique little swirls at the south end of a north bound Bull Terrier. Some
think these add to the velocity of a Bully Scoot!
12. Butt Flap:
Probably there for the same reason dog poop is tapered. So their butthole
doen't slam shut when they go No. 2.
13. Humpty Dance:
Something disgusting they do with their blankets or a pillow, usually when company
is over. |
