12-4-03 The last couple of months have been so totally insane that I have been unable to keep up with my journal. I just have quite a lot on my plate with the baby coming: Sunny, the holidays, Sunny, the new house, decorating, work, and I almost forgot Sunny! He hasn’t changed much in the last couple of months. He is starting to develop a nasty begging habit at dinnertime. We never feed him from the table, but he did get into the routine of getting something as soon as we are done. The whole time dinner is cooking he sits on his rug and barks at my hubby the whole time he cooks and I try to take a nap on the couch. |

| Then while we
eat dinner he sits next to us drooling like a St. Bernard. (You know the
kind of yelps that scare the poopies out of you and leave your blood pressure
curdling in the 300’s?) Then, after he gets his dinner he surfs the
counters for at least an hour trying to find whatever remains from dinner.
There is never anything left since I am pregnant, but he thinks if he can
still smell it then it still exists. Finally, after molesting the table
and counters for over an hour, he comes into the living room to disturb
our nightly movie with a game of look at my slobbery ball, chase me, and
watch how I never let you have the ball. I don’t much like that game.
Do they really develop some sort of brain after the age of two? So, I think
we will have to start banishing him from the kitchen at dinner.
We decided to put up the Christmas tree this year. We didn’t dare put it up last year because Sunny was still a wee demon pup, and it wouldn’t have lasted the month. I don’t know how long the tree will make it this year, but we are going to try it. Have you ever noticed how lovely a Christmas tree looks with ornaments only halfway to the bottom and baby gates crisscrossed in front of it? The baby gates went up the night the tree did. Sunny thought it would be really fun to throw a fit and hucklerun under our huge 9ft prelit tree. The tree almost came down, and the gates went into position. What would we do without the gates? We started to put the nursery together a couple of weeks ago. We still have to paint, but we have the furniture in there and the closet is finished. Sunny always wants to go sniff around in there. I usually let him, but only if I am with him. I wasn’t one day and he stole my little princess pillow off of the dresser and now it’s totally encrusted with Bully drool. Then last weekend we did some E-Bay pickups for baby stuff in Nashville. We got two car seats and this little entertainment center. The center is one of those things that the baby can sit it and play with all the little toys around them. Well, it just happens to have three plush toys on the top of it, and the first time Sunny saw it he was totally in love! He wanted the plushes. He loves anything plush. He will die for a plush toy. So, after he attacked it the first time I closed the door to the room, so he couldn’t destroy it three months before the baby even gets here. What does he do? He doesn’t get over that toy for a week. He sits outside the door and cries, scratches, barks, and basically throws a bigger fit than a two-year-old. We had to start putting a gate at the bottom of the stairs so that he couldn’t go upstairs and start scratching. Then he would just sit at the bottom and cry more. I think he is over it for now. But, I haven’t let him in the room again. I don’t know what we are going to do with Sunny and the baby. He is going to eat all of her toys and vice versa! Speaking of the baby, she is getting big. She weighs about 2lbs now. She kicks me all night and sleeps all day. I can’t wait to meet her and introduce her to Sunny. Please go here to see her pictures here! |
