1-15-04 Sunny had a good holiday. He got a bunch of new toys, most of which have already been destroyed. You can go here to see some pics of him with his Christmas goodies. He got a really huge rawhide candy cane. It took him forever to get that thing in half, and he would swing it around and hit stuff with it. But now all that is left is the little hook on the end of the cane. Besides this he got all the cookies his little tummy could possibly want! |

| The Christmas
tree did survive with the help of the baby gates, and only one stuffed
elf lost his life this year to the jaws of the beast. (Unless, you count
the bows on the packages and various other little things that are replaceable.)
It was still worth it to have the light from the tree this year even with
the ugly gates around it. The hubby cooked both a ham and a turkey this
year and Sunny got to have all he wanted. He loves his turkey. He ate so
much turkey that you could actually say “turkey” and he would
get all excited and run to the kitchen. Then there was Christmas Eve night.
It was around 1:00 in the morning when we finally arrived home from the
festivities. I went to get some milk out of the fridge when some Bully
stuck his big nose in at the same time. Remember, here I am stressed out,
tired, fat, and of course 8 months pregnant. Well, Sunny thought it to
be a wonderful idea to ignore me and pull a whole plate of turkey off the
shelf. Plop, turkey goes everywhere, and Sunny is snorting like a wild
boar to eat it all as quickly as he can. Do you have any idea how fast
a Bully can eat a plate of turkey? I lost it. I became that wild-eyed mad
woman who only Sunny can bring out in me. After a few seconds of screaming
and beating everything in sight, Sunny finally gave up the dish. I think
he was scared of me for the next couple of days, and he also got the squirts
as a result of all the turkey he ate. He deserved it!
Sunny now stays at home during the day. I wish I could still manage to bring him to work, but I am just too tired and large to manage him and take him for walks. I can barely get to work as things are right now. He has adjusted well to spending his day in the crate. My hubby comes home at lunch and lets him out to eat and go potty. Then, he is out for the rest of the night when we get home and he seems tired enough then. But, it was very hard for me to leave him there. I will be working from home after the baby comes so I won’t have to worry about it anymore. Sunny will not have to spend his whole day in the crate. If he can just stick it out for another month he can be out most of the day. I came home from work the other day at noon. The second I opened the front door I was hit with that smell. The smell that means that Sunny has gone poo in his crate. It was bad. Sunny felt bad, and I was at a loss for words and breath. It just happened to be the one day of the month that my husband is out of town. I had to clean the crate and bathe Sunny all by myself. Not so easy when you can’t exactly bend down and over the tub. Somehow I managed and got it all cleaned up. Well, until about 2 hours later when the whole scenario happened again. This time the smell was worse and Sunny was even more upset. Keep in mind Sunny has never gone poo on the floor. He will tear down the walls of the house before he would do that so for him to be locked in his crate with it was just too much to handle. Sunny kept me up all night, and I had to keep letting him out every couple of hours, but he didn’t go in his crate again. He was sick with the runnies for about 4 days. After a whole bunch of canned pumpkins and pepto, he survived. I didn’t and I still haven’t quite recovered from the horror of it all. Two days before that he managed to rip his dew claw completely in half. Blood was everywhere, and Sunny wanted pity for about a week. Every time something even got close to his paw he would wave it around so everyone knew it hurt. Poor puppy. He has really had a rough week. But, now we are past it and things are looking better! Next month Sunny gets to meet the baby! I can’t wait to see how he reacts. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping it all turns out well! |
