About Bullies: Q&A

Bully Tales: Story

Sunny gazes 10-4-04
Sunny got to attend his third Dog Days this year. You can see the slide show here! He actually saw two other Bullies this year. Last year he didn’t see any. We saw some friends we had met at Sunny’s first Dog Days when he was a puppy. They now have three Bullies. They have a male from Bullovers Kennels, and I must say he had the most amazing

face I have seen on a Bully since Silverwood. Sunny sniffed all of them a few times! He said it was good to see a few of his own kind again! He also got to see a baby Bulldog who was the cutest thing I have ever seen. It started out rainy that morning so Dog Days wasn’t as huge as it has been in the past, but I think there were over 500 dogs there. Sunny was so tired after all the butt sniffing. He really zones out in those situations and I often wonder what he likes more: seeing the dogs or sniffing the ground. It seems he spent most of the day with his nose firmly planted in the dirt. He had to stop and smell every pee spot he could find.

Gwyn also enjoyed the day. I carried her in her front pouch the whole time. I think it was the first day since she was born that Sunny got all the attention and not her! Of course she still got a few of the cutest baby in the world comments. I think she liked to see all the dogs, too. It was great to go and do things as a family! I can’t imagine next year. She will be running up to all the dogs! Time goes by so fast. It seems like yesterday we were attending our first Dog Days. I had only been married a year and Sunny was only a few months old. Now fast forward almost three years and our family has changed so much. It’s really amazing!

Sunny and Gwyn have become quite funny together lately. Sunny will take all forms of abuse from Gwyn. He will put his big Bully head on the sofa and let Gwyn poke him all over. She loves to poke him in the eyes, occasionally grabbing an eyelid. She loves the play with his flappy lips, occasionally sticking her little fingers in his mouth. She really loves to pull on his big ears, occasionally cramming them into her little mouth. Sunny doesn’t mind in the least. He just looks at her as if to say, “More, more, more attention please!!!” She was sitting on the floor with him the other night and was talking to him. I don’t know what she was saying to him, but she started to pull at his fur. Sunny just turned his head and licked her in the face. He is so sweet. He really loves her and just can’t wait to play with her. I can’t wait for her to start crawling all over him! What a sight that will be!

Sunny’s days are quite the same everyday. He usually spends a couple hours every morning sunning on the back porch. He really enjoys being outside while I take care of Gwyn. Then, he goes back to his crate for a few hours. He gets out around noon for lunch and then back to his crate where he stays till Daddy gets home. I wish I could just let him lay out all day, but it’s just not possible with the baby. I am so busy with her, and I am just tripping over him all day. He also likes to surf the couch and destroy her toys while I am out of the room. So that’s another reason why I can’t let him stay out alone. I think he is OK with the setup and doesn’t complain too often about it.

Time to start another adventure filled day with little Gwyn and her big brother Sunny. Both of them are calling to me at the moment. Life...it sure is busy but wonderful!
